Essex made three changes from the published team, resulting in positional moves. Sheila Brickle replaced Gail Hunter at Three with the latter replacing Jill Polley as skip. Myra Smith came in for Delia Searle as skip and Pauline Lowe replaced Judy Bohannon who moved to Three in place of Brig Gunn in the Liz Tunn rink.

WALKER CUP DOUBLE RINK
Essex go forward to the second round after beating Huntingdonshire by 3 shots at the neutral Ixworth BC. Rink honours were shared with the Sylvia Bloomfield quartet winning by 16 shots. Second round opponents are Cambridgeshire on Thursday 2 July.

President Betty hosted a very successful Presidents Day at Maldon and wishes to express her sincere thanks to the the ladies of the County.
Betty writes "Everything went like clockwork, the ladies of Maldon B.C. did me proud and I can't thank them enough for what they did, also the Jacks Centre who provided an excellent meal. Even the sun shone all day, so what more could I ask. I have been overwhelmed by the response I have had from the ladies of the County with cards, phone calls and gifts. It is going to be a bit difficult to answer them all but I will try"
